Services & Rentals
Have you ever needed a book that your library does not have? LA Law Library offers Inter-Library Loan (ILL) services to expand collections and increase access to legal research materials.
Whether you are in California or other parts of the country, LA Law Library’s outstanding collection is available to you by making an Inter-Library Loan request through your local law library. Once a request is received, we will forward the requested materials to your local law library. In addition to any fees from your local library, LA Law Library will charge a processing fee of $10 per item, as well as the cost of shipping the materials. To request materials through Inter-Library Loan, contact the Inter-Library Loan department at a law library near you.
Additionally, while LA Law Library has an extensive collection of materials, there may be publications that have not been added to our collection. If you identify a title that is not part of LA Law Library’s collection, LA Law Library can locate and request materials from other libraries as well, subject to any usage restrictions by the loaning institution. If you would like to request materials to be delivered to LA Law Library, please contact our Document Delivery department at 213-785-2529, option 4. In addition to any fees incurred from the loaning institution, LA Law Library will charge a processing fee of $10 per item, as well as any shipping costs incurred.
The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
