Presented by Jim MacLellan & Maurice Kogon:
Jim MacLellan is Director of Trade Development at the Port of Los Angeles. He is responsible for trade promotion programs for the Port of Los Angeles and the Southern California Gateway, including Trade Connect, which assists local businesses seeking to enter global export markets. Prior to joining the Port of Los Angeles in 1992, Jim worked internationally for more than 20 years in the maritime and intermodal shipping business. Jim serves as Adjunct Professor at the Monterey Institute Graduate School of International Studies, where he teaches an annual course on international shipping; additionally, he has taught an intensive summer course on shipping and trade for MBA students at UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Business, as a key component of an international business studies program. A member of several local and international organizations, he currently serves as President of the Pacific Chapter of the United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the L.A. Regional Export Council (MEI) and Executive Committee Member of the Southern California Regional District Export Council.

Prior to his retirement, Maurice Kogon served as the director of the El Camino College Center for International Trade Development (CITD). He holds a BA and MA in Foreign Affairs from George Washington University and did Doctoral work in International Relations at American University. He has over 50 years of experience in the international business field as a U.S. Government official, business executive, educator and consultant. He has written, lectured and trained extensively on international trade and has developed numerous Web-based export tools used throughout the world, including his Exporting Basics guide and Export Readiness Assessment diagnostic. He has taught international business courses at Cal State University Northridge, George Washington University, and Virginia Tech. He has consulted for U.S. and international clients, including the Egyptian Government and the UN’s International Trade Centre in Geneva.
