Book Discussion Group: Ghettoside: A True Story of Murder in America

Tuesday, September 27, 2016
6:30 p.m. — 8:00 p.m.

Meet the author and join the discussion as LA Law Library continues its year-long book discussion series exploring themes of social justice. Author Jill Leovy is an award winning reporter for the Los Angeles Times. The book traces the investigation and prosecution of the 2007 murder in South Los Angeles of 18 year old Bryant Tennelle. By digging deeply into the story of one particular murder, Ghettoside explores the long history of racism, discrimination and poverty that created both the shockingly high murder rate for young black men and the indifferent response to those crimes.
