IN PERSON: Evictions: How to Prepare for Trial or Settlement
Thursday, January 18, 2024: 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Get help preparing for an eviction trial in Los Angeles County. This workshop is intended for people who have a date scheduled for an eviction trial in Los Angeles County but have questions about how to negotiate a settlement before trial.
This workshop will teach participants to prepare for an eviction trial and pre-trial settlement and negotiation process, including:
- What happens after a tenant files an Answer to an Unlawful Detainer Complaint?
- What is a settlement and how to prepare for one before trial
- Things to consider when coming to a settlement agreement
- To Do’s before trial
- What to expect at trial
- How to present the evidence in court
- Other civil procedural topics
Bring the following to the workshop:
- Case number
- Date set for trial or Mandatory Settlement Conference (MSC)
- All related documents, forms and court papers
Walk-ins will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
