When attorneys, students and volunteers provide direct services to vulnerable clients who are experiencing traumatic situations, they can themselves experience a form of stress known variously as secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue. This training will help advocates understand what vicarious trauma is and how to identify it in their work in order to manage its effects and avoid burnout so that they remain able to provide effective, competent legal assistance.

Presented by: Jo Bloomfield, Directing Attorney, Mental Health Advocacy Services, Inc.
