Legal Counseling for Parents of Children with Education-Access Issues

Learning Rights Law Center will be hosting its Education Rights Clinics walk-in consultations. Low income parents of children with education-access issues will have the opportunity to get an in-person, one-on-one meeting with Learning Rights Law Center’s attorneys.
Learning Rights Law Center will counsel and advise low-income parents as well as develop individualized action plans that each parent can use to address their child’s education issues. Upon the consultation, parents of children with disabilities, long-term or life-long illnesses or any other issues that prevent their children from receiving the education they deserve by law will be able to advocate better on behalf of their child.
Additional details:
What to bring: You should bring your child’s school records from the last two years, such as report cards, IEPs, assessments and medical records (if applicable). Please bring proof of your income such as check stubs, taxes, or proof of government benefits.
Unvaccinated children: Please do not bring children that are unvaccinated due to religious, philosophical, or other personal beliefs. Some of the clients might have unique medical needs and we would like to reduce the risk of unnecessary exposure to disease.

Learning Rights Law Center seeks to achieve education equity for low income and disadvantaged students in the public education system in the greater Los Angeles area. We change the lives of at risk students who have disabilities, face discrimination or are involved in the dependency or juvenile justice systems by providing free legal services, education advocacy, and community training. In 2016, Learning Rights helped more than 2,000 low-income parents, children with education-access issues and other family members or community stakeholders via this self-help program.
