This workshop is designed to help the attendee understand the different types of powers of attorneys and important considerations to make when executing a legal instrument giving authority to someone else to assist with decision-making. Learn the difference between supported decision-making and substitute decision-making.

Presented by Bet Tzedek Legal Services, we will review what is involved in naming an agent, the scope of an agent’s authority, and how to revoke a power of attorney. The presentation will end by explaining the difference between powers of attorney and conservatorship.

Your Federal Tax Debt & Credits

This workshop discusses an “offer in compromise,” which can allow individuals who owe federal income taxes to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to settle the debt for less than is owed. Learn who is eligible, how to complete the necessary forms, and how to submit the offer. Class will also cover what information the IRS takes into account in determining whether or not to accept an offer in compromise.
